#BreakTheBias is the theme of the 2022 International Women’s Day. The manifesto reads: “Imagine a gender equal world. Together we can forge women’s equality.”

In 2021, Adidas launched the ‘Watch Us Move’ campaign, aimed at celebrating women and their freedom of movement. On the eve of 2017 International Women’s Day, State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), an asset management firm, ignited a conversation about the significance of gender diversity in corporate leadership by placing a bronze, four-feet-high statue of ‘Fearless Girl’.

Facing down Wall Street’s iconic ‘Charging Bull’ statue and promoting female empowerment, it was part of the campaign developed by McCann New York, an advertising agency, encouraging organizations to appoint more women in board membership roles.

SSGA states that since the campaign launch, close to 60 percent of the companies that had been identified with previously all-male boards, had added at least one female director, as of March 2021.
